PokerStars Championship Cash Challenge (videos)
The PokerStars Festival London continues, with the Main Event looming close and the High Roller playing down to a winner, who will also get to be crowned as the newest Platinum Pass winner.
The game will end late in the evening, just right on time when poker fans check on the updates of the Blog to Channel 4, where the most recent episode of the PokerStars Championship Cash Challenge will be on air come 12:05am (technically, Thursday morning).
What's this PokerStars Championship Cash Challenge all about? It is presented by Monte Carlo Casino, and it runs for six days, with a player field of 727 entrants. The prize pool is €3.6 million, with over €500,000 waiting for whoever is the last player standing. The action is scheduled to show every Wednesday evening on Channel 4.
The format to this challenge is quite simple: An amateur player called ‘The Challenger' goes into battle and faces the finest poker pros, businessmen and celebrities in a cash game at the PokerStars Championship in Monte Carlo. Their objective is simple, but it's easier said than done: Are they able to show a profit after 150 hands?
Whether they make it through or not, it sort of creates a very curious scenario which viewers would definitely find highly interesting, as the mix of various levels of skill, talent and ability produces a melting pot of poker.
If you haven't yet seen the first two episodes of this series, you can see them below:
Episode1: The first episode features Hollywood comedian actor and poker player Kevin Hart, and poker pro Daniel Negreanu taking on the week's challenger Mila Munroe in Monte Carlo.
Episode2: British poker pros Liv Boeree and Charlie Carrel get put through the ringer, while Hart and Negreanu enjoy early success in their Monte Carlo cash game.
