Rivers Casino Reopening With Significant Changes

PITTSBURGH, PA — After being closed since March due to the coronavirus outbreak, Rivers Casino plans to reopen on June 9 with a myriad of changes designed to protect patrons and staff from COVID-19. The changes are mandated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

The casino will have new operating hours and will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. and around-the-clock on weekends from Friday and 9 a.m. through Monday at 4 a.m. The closure periods are necessary so the facility can be thoroughly sanitized.

Patrons and staff will be required to wear masks. A complete list of gaming floor modifications and new safety measures will be published on the casino's website before it reopens.

"Our team had already been working on making the changes announced by the PGCB in May," casino general manger Bill Keena said in a release. "We intend to meet or exceed all requirements to provide a healthy environment."

To comply with state regulations, the casino will limit gaming floor and restaurant capacity to 50 percent until further notice. Occupancy will be managed via a customer counter at both entrances.

Valet parking, the poker room, Grand View Buffet and the event center will remain closed for now.

Most of the gaming floor, including the BetRivers Sportsbook, will reopen. Wheelhouse Bar & Grill, Ciao, Drum Bar, Spiral Bar and FLIPT will reopen with limited operating hours.

Approximately half of the casino's staff will return to work for now.
