EastEnders: Kush sparks concern over gambling

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has hinted at a gambling story for Kush Kazemi ahead of his exit next year.

Bosses announced over the weekend that Davood Ghadami is leaving his role as Kush, as part of a big storyline set to play out into 2021.

Although there is no official information on the nature of Kush's departure just yet, next week's episodes will suggest that he could be heading in a worrying direction.

Having picked up on his antics of late, Jean tells Kush that she's seen the poker games on his tablet and warns him about the risks.

Although Jean explains that she would be terrified of losing money, Kush insists it's all just a bit of fun.

The pressure on Kush then intensifies when Suki interrupts and demands more rent due to the new tenants at the house.

With Kat desperate for money to pay Suki, Stacey offers to sell her stuff online to cover them for the month.

However, when Kush walks in with a wad of cash to save the day, Jean is suspicious of how he came to get his hands on the money.

Jean's suspicions are confirmed when Kush later gives Suki the money and promises the rest will be coming soon. As he leaves, he opens up a gambling app and places a big bet.

Eagle-eyed viewers will have also noticed some subtle hints in recent episodes that have implied Kush has been staying up late to play poker with Martin. Is he heading down a troubling path?

Announcing Kush's exit, an EastEnders spokesperson told Digital Spy at the weekend: "We can confirm Davood will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end next year. Davood has been a wonderful addition to EastEnders and we wish him all the best for the future."

Kate Oates, head of continuing drama at the BBC, added: "Davood is a fantastic actor and a hugely popular company member, so we will miss him hugely."

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
