Lady Gaga Reprises Iconic Looks For Last-Minute Voting Plea: 'My Voice Will Be Heard This Election, Will Yours?'
The singer offers a hardy hand clap for those who've already weighed in during a year when early, absentee and mail-in voting has surged to historic levels as the nation battles the surging COVID-19 pandemic in the clip with a link to the Howtovote site.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, you did your part and I love you for it," she says before shifting into the blue cut-out swimsuit look from the "Poker Face" video, at which point she turns her attention to those who don't plan to vote, are undecided or unsure if they even believe in voting. "I believe no matter how you feel right now about the election, you are still accountable," she says, morphing her look again to the silver spacesuit with matching boots and eye make-up from her 2017 Super Bowl performance.
Perhaps you're sick of all the partisan bickering, frustrated by the pandemic lockdown, don't like any of the choices or are just plain so discouraged by the state of the nation that you don't want to be part of the system anymore, she says. But if you want to change things and want the country to change, then "you have got to participate in this election," she urges, rocking a wild outfit that matches a grey sweatshirt (which also happens to be Chromatica merch) with a pink headpiece/mask sprouting two giant feathers and platform pink boots.
"If you want this country to be different than it is right now, you have got to participate in this election," she says, reminding Monsters that when the results are announced, "it will be very clear what this country has become." Slipping into a plaid Joanne shirt and seemingly nothing else, Gaga notes that unless you have already booked a plane ticket out of the U.S.A., this is your home.
"What you choose to do will affect you," she says, sporting another Joanne look with jean shorts, cowboy boots, cropped white t-shirt and signature floppy white hat. "And the fact is that the most critical vote right now is the one this country might never get to see: it's yours," she adds, urging her followers to vote in honor of someone they love, someone who loves them, someone they've lost who might have stood in line for hours if they were still alive, someone with less power or the children of the future.
"Let's be real, you know who I voted for," says Gaga, who teamed up with former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in 2017 to advocate for accountability and support for sexual assault survivors. Even if you disagree with her, Gaga says, your vote still matters and while you can vote early, you definitely can't vote late. "I've never been shy to make my voice heard," she says in conclusion. "I've said a lot of things in a lot of different ways, wearing a lot of different outfits, make-up, hats, dresses made out of meat, jumping off of stadiums, screaming on stage."
And while her look has changed, the one constant is her consistent, kindhearted nature. "My voice will be heard this election... will yours?"
