5 star kids who weren’t successful in movies but are running multi crore businesses

Bollywood as an industry is often criticised for being biased and favourI got star kids and kids of prominent personalities. However, we’ve seen that not every star kid achieves success like celebrities such as Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, or Alia Bhatt to name a few. There are many who didn’t receive any appreciation from the audience or struggled to survive in the industry and eventually left acting. Here we’ve listed down five forgotten star kids who are now running multi-crore businesses right now.

5 unsuccessful star kids in Bollywood who are now running multi-crore businesses

1. Uday Chopra

Uday Chopra

After working as an assistant director in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Uday Chopra made his acting debut in 2000 with Mohabbatein. The film was a major commercial success and he was unanimously praised by critics and fans. Post that, he worked in numerous movies including Dhoom, Neal ‘n’ Nikki, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and more. But his acting career failed to kick off. However, looks like the actor found his calling as a producer and moved to Los Angeles to try his hands at production. In 2011, he founded YRF Entertainment in LA and has produced two Hollywood moviesGrace of Monaco featuring Nicole Kidman and The Longest Week featuring Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde. As per a 2012 report in Hindustan Times, he’s also the founder of comic label called Yomics that has created comic books on YRF movies like Dhoom and Ek Tha Tiger. In 2018, he was in news for his 25 crore (approx.) villa in Hollywood Hills that includes a saltwater pool and spa, which he was planning to sell off, according to India Today.

2. Twinkle Khanna

Twinkle Khanna

Being born to veteran actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia came with a lot of pressure for Twinkle Khanna, who was primarily active in Bollywood in the 1990s and early 2000s and has given some notable performances in Baadshah opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Mela opposite Aamir Khan. Unlike her husband Akshay Kumar, who is counted among the most successful actors in Bollywood, Twinkle Khanna eventually gave up her acting career and carved a niche for herself as an author, columnist, producer and interior designer. And she’s been running all ventures quite successfully – be it penning the bestselling novel Mrs. Funnybones, founding and running a digital content company called Tweak India or wearing the producer’s hat for movies such as Singh Is Kinng, Rustom and Airlift. According to a report in NDTV, she also owns an interior designing company called The White Window. She’s also the brand ambassador of the global lifestyle brand, Kohler.

3. Jackky Bhagnani

Jackky Bhagnani

Jackky Bhagnani made his debut in Bollywood with Kal Kissne Dekha in 2009 and then went on to act in movies such as Welcome 2 Karachi, Youngistaan, Mitron and F.A.L.T.U to name a few. However, after failing to make a mark as an actor, Jackky Bhagnani moved to production and entrepreneurship and has been doing quite well in that domain. According to a report in the Times of India, Jackky Bhagnani is the founder of JJust Music, a music label that was majorly in news in 2019 for its first single album Prada that featured Alia Bhatt and The Doorbeen. The same report mentions that Jackky Bhagnani’s music label has also tied up with Darshan Rawal, Tanishk Bagchi, Jasleen Royal and more for his upcoming music line-up. Apart from being an entrepreneur, he has also carved a niche for himself as a successful producer and currently has two movies in the pipeline – Coolie No. 1 featuring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, and Bell Bottom starring Akshay Kumar.

4. Harman Baweja

Harman Baweja

It won’t be wrong to say that Harman Baweja had a dream launch in comparison to other actors or people on this list. He was launched by his family’s production banner Baweja movies. He was cast opposite global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas and when his first look was announced, his fame catapulted almost immediately as people started calling him Hrithik Roshan’s doppelganger. However, his popularity or his movies such as What’s Your Rashee? Dishkiyaoon or Victory couldn’t help his survival in Bollywood. But the actor seems to have found his calling in health and fitness. According to Bollywood Hungama, he’s the founder of Health Naturel’s, a fitness brand that was in news in 2016 for launching a health supplement called Quick Burn Plus. As per a report in The Week, the actor-producer and entrepreneur, has a net worth of approximately $5 million and also owns a poker team that plays in Raj Kundra’s poker tournament Match India Poker League, according to Mid-Day.

5. Tusshar Kapoor

Tusshar Kapoor

Tusshar Kapoor made his debut in Bollywood in 2001 opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan in Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai and then went on to act in several forgettable movies that failed to impress the audience or rake in good numbers at the box office. Post a string of box office failures, his career improved a bit through supporting roles in the Golmaal franchise, Shootout at Wadala and The Dirty Picture, but overall, his career never revived from the slump. In 2017, the actor was in news for his plans to launch his own production house, according to a report in Mid-Day. Fast forward to the present time and he is now a producer and has produced Akshay Kumar’s Laxmii, under his banner Tusshar Entertainment House. Although, Laxmii hasn’t been receiving great reviews from critics, as per a report in Hindustan Times, it still managed to break all the viewership records on Disney+Hotstar, within a few hours of its release. Until 2019, he was also the Non-Executive Non-Independent Director at Balaji Telefims, according to a report in The Hindu Business Line
