Due to the weather heating up and the World Series of Poker taking place on the other side of the country, most of the major tournaments with at least a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool on New Jersey regulated online poker rooms failed to meet their guarantees this past weekend.
That being said, the weekend produced many big winners, with the biggest being than Fred "Scooby-D0O" Ferrell, who won over $15,000 in two big tournaments on PokerStars NJ.
Ferrell's biggest haul came in the Sunday Special, $50,000 Gtd, when he outlasted a field of 214 players to claim the top prize of $10,750. Also scoring big in this tournament were "MikeHunt732" (2nd - $7,750) and "3BettingYou" (3rd - $5,875).
Additionally, Ferrell banked another $4,610 when he took second place as part of a three-way deal in the Sunday High Roller [6-Max], $15,000 Gtd.. The two other players involved in the deal were Keith "donnysack" Donovan (1st - $5,212) and Brandon "mudcookie" Shane (3rd - $4,437).
Shane, under the screenname "sh1tb1rd", also took down the $10,000 GTD Weekly Sunday on WSOP.com NJ and 888poker NJ for $2,850.
The biggest winner on partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com was "MrWheat" who outlasted a field of 192 players in the $50,000 Guarantee to win a cool $10,000. Also with decent paydays in this tournament were "Fitzgerald" (2nd - $6,800) and AJ "Chips_Jammed" Ten Hoeve (3rd - $4,950).
Meanwhile, "Deezer" won $8,250 in the $30,000 GTD Weekly Sunday on WSOP.com NJ/888poker NJ after beating Maureen "Redhotmomma" Ludwig (2nd - $4,800) in heads-up play.
WSOP.com Online Championships Begin
This weekend also marked the start of the WSOP.com Online Championships. The 31-day series runs from June 10 to July 10 featuring 93 events with $250,000 in guaranteed prize pools. At the same time, a similar, yet bigger series is running in Nevada on WSOP NV with 93 events and $700,000 in guaranteed prize pools.
In the biggest event in the series thus far, Jeremy "Jermz" Danger finished on top of the $20,000 GTD Online Championships Event #7 [Reentry] to collect $7,000. Danger added to his already impressive weekend with two great finishes on partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com including finishing in first place as part of a heads-up deal in the Sunday Seconds $10K Gtd [Reentry] for $2,603 and taking eighth place in the Daily $10K for $440.
Ryan "Hagzzz021" Hagerty, who finished second place in the $20,000 GTD Online Championships Event #7 for $4,400, was all over the place this weekend with four final table appearances on Sunday. Hagerty's other decent finishes were in the $10,000 GTD Weekly Sunday (3rd - $1,000), the PokerStars NJ Sunday High Roller [6-Max], $15,000 Gtd. (6th - $1,391) under the screenname "hagz2richez", and the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com Sunday Seconds $10K Gtd [Re-Entry] (9th - $450) under the screenname "hags021".
