Brunson vs Selbst On Twitter Over US Election
As the US Election draws near, it is the norm that people's opinions will tend to clash, but this online argument between two highly-recognized personalities in the pro poker community is really something else - a politically-driven discussion on Twitter last September 22 has quickly escalated into a personal one between three-time WSOP bracelet winner Vanessa Selbst and Poker Hall of Famer Doyle Brunson.
The two of the best no-limit hold'em players Doyle Brunson and Vanessa Selbst went head to head with each other last Thursday over Clinton vs Trump. The quarrel started with Brunson saying something anti-Clinton and then Selbst chiming in. A battle of comments commenced, with both gamblers taking down each other's character in the poker world.
Brunson mentioned a controversial prop bet that Selbst had entered with Jason Mercier this past summer at the WSOP event.
Selbst retaliated, "Yeah, paying @100K (equals) welching. I doubt you want to start a debate about ethics in poker."
Doyle Brunson, age 83, is a ten-time WSOP bracelet winner and two-time WSOP main event champion. While no longer competing at the WSOP tables, he's still actively playing some of the biggest live cash games in the world, in Bobby's Room at the Bellagio casino. He is known by his poker nicknames: Texas Dolly, Big Papa, and The Godfather of Poker.
Vanessa Selbst, age 32, is a Yale Law School grad and the highest-earning female poker player of all time, with over $11.6 million in total winnings. She is the first and only female to win three WSOP bracelets in an open WSOP event.
