Partypoker pro Isaac Haxton Says Most Top Poker Players Use AI to Improve their Game
Isaac Haxton is an online poker legend who in January has become one of the ambassadors for partypoker. The 32-year old gaming professional has $16 million in lifetime tournament scores as well as several millions more in online cash games, has left PokerStars in 2016 in favor of partypoker.
He is one of the few professional poker players to criticize openly the policies of PokerStars and that partypoker is the one that goes in the right direction.
Being one of the most respected poker players, Haxton readily admits that Artificial Intelligence is the future of poker gaming and that many professional players are already using AI to strengthen their game.
The future of AI in gaming became a factor when the high-profile contest between an AI bot from Carnegie Mellon University beat a group of professional poker players. The development of such a bot has not only become a proving ground for AI technology, but also the possible training ground for poker professionals.
"Most of the top poker players are studying AI to work on their games at this point. I think that's just going to become truer going forward. That doesn't mean the end of poker or anything like that. The best AIs beat humans in chess, and chess is still a healthy and thriving game. Humans are studying AI to improve at it, same goes for backgammon, apparently GO now as well. I think it's the future of game playing. Computers are going to be better than people at most games pretty soon. Mastering a game is going to be in large part about learning from those computers as effectively as you can."
