Justin Bonomo wins $4.8 Million at 2018 Super High Roller Bowl China
To enter, each player paid a fee of HK$2,100,000 ($267,637), which quickly surpassed the HK$100 million guaranteed with HK$145,490,000 ($18,542,255) waiting for the aspiring winners.
Bonomo defeated a tough field of 75 entrants to win the lion's share of the $18,542,370 prize pool. This win is actually Bonomo's biggest prize of his poker career so far, and now he has a total of $25,195,747 in live tourney wins, which puts him in 6th place on the All-Time Money List, surpassing the likes of John Juanda, Scott Seiver, Phil Hellmuth and even Phil Ivey!
Phil Ivey Present
Phil Ivey entered the tournament foray at the last moment. His last recorded tournament cash was back from January 2016 when he finished 5th in the $200,000 Triton Super High Roller Series in Manila, Philippines. In Patrik Antonius' instagram, Ivey was seated next to him along with partypoker sponsored pro Isaac Haxton.
While Ivey did not manage to make it into the money, his two seatmates did, finishing 8th (Haxton) and 2nd place (Antonius).
Not Good for Fedor Holz
While all of the finalists have secured at least a payday of over US$1 million, it is definitely not a good run for German superstar Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz in this tournament as he ended up losing more than US$1.5 million worth of buy-ins after making five rebuys. His efforts were all for naught, as he was eventually eliminated before reaching the money.
As for players like Jason Koon, Isaac Haxton and Daniel "jungleman12" Cates, they reached the money, but late on Day 2 they were eliminated just before reaching the official final table (7 players).
The chip leader on the final table of seven was Justin Bonomo with 54,800,000 chips, followed by Finnish poker pro Patrik Antonius with 28,025,000 chips.
