2018 WSOP: Event #24: THE MARATHON $2,620 No-Limit Holdem won by Michael Addamo for $653,581
Event #24 $2,620 The Marathon No-Limit Hold’em of the 2018 WSOP has been won by Australian Michael Addamo, who now can join the roster of first-time WSOP bracelet winners. The five-day poker grind featured players starting the event with 26,200 in chips and competing with 100-minute levels. Just a bit down from last year’s 1,759 player field, the 1,637 entries created a prize pool of $3.8 million.
The event ended with 23-year-old Aussie poker pro Michael Addamo as the top winner, thereby obtaining his very first gold bracelet and a nice $653,581 cash prize to go along with it.
Addamo said after his win, “It hasn’t quite hit. I’m sure when I wake up tomorrow it’ll hit me. I got lucky in some spots and got some chips.”
Right after the online poker ban was implemented in Australia, Addamo has since relocated to Thailand. Right now he has over $1.9 million in live tournament winnings. He won an event back in 2017 at the PokerStars Championship Macau with Nick Petrangelo for $197, 971 (his previous best score).
