Golden nuggets: The Seahawks are in the news and for the wrong reasons

It’s been a while since we’ve had a bizarre story in the NFL, which means we were due. Late Thursday afternoon, New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker and new Seahawks CB Quinton Dunbar were issued a warrant for their arrest for four counts of Armed Robbery with a firearm and four accounts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. These incidents occurred on May 13.

Wow.

Even in a quarantine, people can’t help themselves. Money doesn’t change who you are; it only enhances you. Here is part of the story from the police report:

That is a high-stakes poker game right there. Thankfully, nobody was shot. Still, reading that is terrifying knowing what could have happened.

Don’t worry; the story gets weirder. On Thursday morning, Dunbar spoke to the Seahawks’ media for 15 minutes. Seattle didn’t have any clue about the events that transpired the day before. There’s no way they allow Dunbar to speak if so. You can read the police report here. I don’t think we’ve heard the last about this story. If there were two NFL players doing the robbing, you have to imagine they were targeting someone else that’s high-profile. I know it’s not San Francisco 49ers related, but man, how do you ignore this?

The Seahawks traded a fifth-round pick for Dunbar, who is a talented player. It looked like a steal at the time. Now? I’d be shocked if Dunbar played a snap for Seattle, who will now be shorthanded at cornerback. How unfortunate. If we don’t see any “Dumb and Dunbar” headlines, I’ll be disappointed.
