Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa will reopen poker room

Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa announced Tuesday, Aug 18, that it would reopen its poker room on Friday, Aug. 21.

The Cabazon-area casino announced its poker plans via its social media accounts.

According to Morongo’s website, no more than seven players will be allowed at tables; seats will be divided by plexiglass dividers; cards will be sanitized after every hour of play; and seats and tables will be cleaned between players. There will be sanitizing stations throughout the space.

The casino resort reopened its doors on Friday, May 22, after closing for months due to concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus. However, some amenities remained closed, including poker.

Morongo still has some facilities that have not yet reopened, including its Portero Canyon Buffet and its Sage salon and spa. A bingo hall located at the smaller Casino Morongo property next door was also closed and has since been converted into a spot for additional slots and table games. A representative for the casino last month said the resort continues to explore options for safely reopening bingo, possibly in a new space.
