Schoolgirl, 15, found dead in bath after massive electric shock

A 15-year-old schoolgirl tragically passed away after suffering an electric shock in the bath.

The victim, identified as Anna K, was found dead at home in Moscow, Russia, after the tragic accident.

Investigators believe either her charging mobile phone or a faulty washing machine caused the electric shock.

Prior to having a bath, a neighbour had reported a water leak through his ceiling.

The bathroom was locked and her stepdad broke down the door, finding Anna dead along with her phone.

A “faulty” washing machine, previously suspected by the family of giving mild shocks in the bath, was also running at the time.

A paramedic doctor called to the scene in New Moscow suburb said Anna had died from an electric shock.

Investigators believe either her charging mobile phone or a faulty washing machine are to blame for the tragedy

Her mum and grandmother were also home when the tragedy took place.

Anna’s death follows warnings in Russia over the risks of electrocution from using smartphones in bathrooms.

The past two years have seen a number of tragic cases of deaths from electric shocks involving teenagers and young adults.

Liliya Novikova, an internationally recognised poker star, died a year ago after suffering a suspected massive electric shock in her bathroom.

The 26-year-old, a mathematics prodigy with a first-class degree in engineering from a top Russian university, was home alone when she died.

An elderly neighbour found Liliya’s body after her parents raised the alarm.

She was well known on Twitch, a live online gaming streaming platform, and had more than 15,000 followers on Instagram.

PokerStar Ambassador Lex Veldhuis paid tribute at the time, saying: “She had such a good influence on poker/twitch community through her hard work and efforts.

"I've always admired all the many different things she did. What a tragic loss, and so young.”

Team Pokerstars Pro player, Liv Boeree added: "Utterly heartbreaking. She was such a sweet, beautiful and talented girl who worked so hard to promote the game. Rest in peace lady."
