How Will New Funding Expand the Mobile Premier League Outside of India

In September 2018, the Mobile Premier League was founded. The Indian-based company is a mobile eSports platform that combines various elements of online gaming, from fantasy sports to poker. Two years after coming to fruition, the business raised $90 million in its latest financing round. So, having recently acquired substantial funding, let’s take a look at how the money will help the MPL to expand its global audience base.

Gaming Opportunities Through the Service

Regarding the platform’s gaming library, there’s plenty of variation available to prospective players. For example, the MPL seeks to take advantage of India’s new-found love of multiplayer first-person shooters with Rogue Heist. In creating the fast-paced game, the eSports brand partnered with Lifelike studios to develop an action-packed, prize-winning title that captures the appeal of the ever-popular competitive gaming industry.

Aside from the eSports-oriented offering of Rogue Heist, MPL also harnesses the attraction of traditional casino games, such as poker. The digital variant of the table-based game will enable the two-year-old organization to attract those who enjoy real-money offerings in a similar fashion to established operators.

As per Genesiscasino.com/en-in, the platform has long been at the forefront of Indian casino gaming through their array of different titles, including live Andar Bahar and Teen Patti – two traditional local games. Through their bonus-offering promotions, Genesis Casino has established a loyal audience base, and this is an approach that the MPL could benefit from following their added funding.

Perhaps the biggest attraction for local players revolves around the MPL’s fantasy cricket opportunities. The service covers various formats of the sport, including one-day internationals, test matches, and T20s. Should some of the new funding be invested in this aspect of the platform, then there’s undoubtedly scope to attract global players. Given that the Indian Premier League features non-Indian players, such as Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, and more, mastering this service could help to grow the brand throughout the world.

The Prospect of Expansion

While there is a wide array of games available to play at MPL, there is perhaps a lack of depth compared to their competitors. In turn, the $90 million investment – which was led by MDI Ventures, RTP Global, and SIG, according to TechCrunch.com – could be used to develop and introduce further gaming opportunities.

For example, the brand could seek to expand their traditional casino titles, with poker being the only one currently available. Although this will unlikely see them surpass the popularity of long-standing iGaming competitors, prospective players may come for the fantasy opportunities and then stay for the digital games.

That said, perhaps the primary focus following the newly-received funding should revolve around mastering the fantasy cricket market. Given that the IPL is broadcast on Willow TV in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom, the competition already has a global audience. As such, fine-tuning this category could see the MPL reap the rewards of the league’s unquestionable popularity.

The Foundation and Resources to Grow

Ultimately, there can be no doubts that there’s scope for the MPL to take their audience base to new heights. While their current opportunities are somewhat diverse, the potential is there to establish itself as a leading player in fantasy sports. Given the global popularity of cricket, investing in digital services that reflect real-world competitions could be the catalyst in securing worldwide growth.
