2018 WSOP: Event #12: $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-Handed won by Jeremy Harkin for $129K
Harkin had been participating at the WSOP events every year since 2003, and before this year's Event #12, he was beginning to lose hope that his dream of winning a bracelet will never come true.
He said after he won, "Everything seemed to click for the last few days."
Harkin's journey in this event had not been easy, but he did very well under pressure when he faced some of the most respected mixed game players such as Mike Leah, Jeff Lisandro, Chris Klodnicki and John Hennigan. He said, "This is a chance to play and see how I stack up against these guys. I just kinda visualized it. I thought I was playing well. If it didn't work out, it didn't work out."
The heads-up match between Jeremy Harkin and Frankie O'Dell lasted for more than two hours, with the lead switching back and forth. The key to Harkin's victory came when O'Dell, who was selecting stud-8, then shifted to Omaha-8, a game wherein he won his two bracelets. However, it turns out that Omaha-8 is also Harkin's forte and in the end the game change went straight in his favor. Harkin defeated O'Dell in a hand of Big O.
Harkin admitted, "Honestly, I was glad when Frank changed from playing stud games, ‘cause I'm not used to playing those games short-handed or even in the tournaments."
