2018 WSOP: Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship won by Paul Volpe for $417,921
The 2018 WSOP's first Championship event has concluded, and the victor is American poker pro Paul Volpe, who claimed his third bracelet after dominating Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship for $417,921.
Volpe bested three-time WSOP bracelet winner Eli Elezra in a heads-up match to add his third bracelet win in this event. Even though the two finalists have almost the same amount of chips going in to their heads-up battle, the 37-year-old Volpe swiftly pulled away, saying, "I just ran like, really, really good, I think a lot of people with the same cards as me would have won the tournament."
Elezra said after his runner-up finish in the event, "He got it fair and square, he ran like god."
Volpe plans to participate in other WSOP events, saying, "It feels great; I am excited. Hopefully I'm I gonna win another one." He's planning to "Play more tournaments, more $10ks; I will probably play a decent amount more."
