2018 WSOP: Event #31: $1,500 Seven Card Stud won by Steven Albini for $105,629

The past weekend was a memorable one for Steven Albini as he won his very first WSOP bracelet in Event #31 $1,500 Seven Card Stud, taking home a nice sum of $105,629. He managed to overcome a player field of 310, outlasting a stacked final table that included the likes of two-time bracelet winner Frankie O'Dell, and two six-time bracelet winners Chris Ferguson and Jeffrey Lisandro.

The 55-year-old Albini has a career as a producer and musician, performing in bands such as Big Black and Shellac and serving as a recording engineer for the likes of Pixies, Nirvana and many other bands. Now, the poker player from Chicago can add a WSOP gold bracelet next to his list of musical achievements.

Albini entered the final day of the event in 5th chip position, with 9 players left.

The final heads-up battle saw Jeffrey Lisandro versus Steven Albini. The two traded the chip advantage a few times before Albini was able to finally break away and make a significant lead. The final hand showed:

Lisandro: 6Heart2HeartQClubJClub4Diamond10Spade9Club

Albini: 10Club9SpadeAHeart4Club2Diamond10DiamondJDiamond

Albini's pair of tens has enabled him to win this event, thus earning the title and the pot. Lisandro, who's aiming to win his 7th WSOP bracelet, now has to settle as runner-up and try again next time.

Albini said that it was thanks to two-time bracelet winner Brandon Shack-Harris that he was able to win this tournament, "I owe him an awful lot for my development as a player. I owe a lot of it to my peer group... all the people that I play with all the time in Chicago, they're all friendly people who are open with their knowledge. I also owe an enormous debt of gratitude to my wife, Heather. There was a lot of complicated stuff going on at home and she was gracious enough to say it would be okay if I came out here for this. I really appreciate her indulging me in my...hobby."
