Hull casino explains changes ahead of August 1 reopening
Bosses at one of Hull's most popular casinos have revealed the new measures in place for gamblers to stay safe when trying to win big.
Casinos up and down the country are set to welcome their first punters since March when they reopen on August 1, but a series of stringent Covid-19 precautions will greet customers when popping in for a few hands of poker or a spin of the roulette wheel.
Hull's Grosvenor Casino, in Dock Street, is preparing to relaunch with bosses pledging to keep chips, tables and machines sanitised regularly, while screens will also be installed at gaming tables and between slots.
Card players and gamers will also have to stick to social distancing measures while trying to win a bag a small fortune.
Jonathon Swaine, managing director at Grosvenor Casinos, said: “The health and safety of our customers and team remains our priority.
"We want to create the best gaming and hospitality experience which guests know and love and a lot of work has gone into ensuring we have the highest standards of hygiene and safety measures in place to do so when we reopen.
"We’re looking forward to welcoming customers back to Grosvenor Casino clubs across the country very soon.”
The firm, one of the biggest casino operators in the UK, has also confirmed its new safety measures - thanks to a new advert fronted by former World Heavyweight Champion boxer, David Haye.
"Upon entering the casino, customers will be expected to use hand sanitiser which will be readily available at dispensers, whilst enhanced cleaning will take place throughout each day, including tables, chips and machines," a Grosvenor Casino spokesman said.
"To create a fun experience in the safest way possible, each casino will make screens available at all its gaming tables and in between electronic machines. There will also be restrictions on the number of people who can play games at any one time.
"Grosvenor Casinos will continue to accept cash and is encouraging customers to use contactless payment where possible. There will be safety shields at all tills to protect both team members and customers, and face masks will be offered as an option to wear.
"Guests will still be able to enjoy food and drink with dining seating appropriately spaced out and can be pre-ordered at their table or from their machine, either using the online app, or by placing an order with the valet service using the disposable one-use table menus."
